The Central Wisconsin Aquarium Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing information
to beginning aquarium hobbyists, increasing public awareness of aquatic ecology,
and promoting the fish-keeping hobby.
What's New:
Welcome to the new and
improved C.W.A.S. website. The search for
missing issues of the "Behind The Glass" newsletter might be over.
Steve Radant has located 90+
missing issues and other numerous goodies. So, expect many future updates in the
Archives section, with a few surprises. The
C.W.A.S. Show Fall 2008 photo gallery has been
posted in the
Archives.
If anyone has any
other C.W.A.S. related materials that you would like to contribute, and can be added to the
Archives, it would be appreciated. You will get these
items back.
The "Behind The Glass" newsletter is back from it's
year long hiatus, thanks
to the hard work of
Kelly Rector. The delayed
October/November 2008 Double Issue
is now available.
While the newsletter is starting out slow, it can be built back up to what it
once was, with the help of club member participation. If you are a club member
who would like to write an article or submit content to the newsletter please
e-mail
Kelly.
During the last meeting it
was decided that we were going to look into bringing back PAP (Participation
Award Program). With the Holiday Party as our next scheduled event, we will be
having a PAP auction before it's conclusion. Fish bucks will be handed out
depending on member participation during the year. A write up with the PAP
information will be added to the About
page in a future update. As a reminder,
please contact
Kelly or
Brian to RSVP for the Party. The upcoming Newsletter will have more
information on this once it's available.

Raffle/Auction Coming
Soon
Here at
Finned Friends and KARS
(Kelly's Aquatic Rescue
Services), we rescue
and provide temporary
homes for unwanted
aquatics (pond fish,
tropical and saltwater).
KARS was established
three years ago and is
growing rapidly. We are
a non profit rescue and
we are struggling to
stay open. KARS is only
one of only three
rescues in the U.S. that
is totally devoted to
the aquatic. Due to the
success of our rescue,
KARS underwent an
expansion last year.
Unfortunately, part of
our large expansion
included an $8500
payment to a contractor
who didn’t provide the
services promised. This
case is still ongoing
and is being
investigated. This loss
hurt the rescue
tremendously, and we are
struggling to keep our
doors open.
We have provided rescues
all over the state of
Wisconsin. Additionally,
we have helped rescue
fish in
Texas and
Virginia. Even though
we personally could not
be there, the web
provided enough
resources that we were
able to find stable
homes for the unwanted
aquatics. We have been
recommended to customers
by several fish stores
and also by the
Milwaukee Zoo! KARS has
received monetary
donations from as far
away as
Switzerland,
United Kingdom,
Spain and
Australia.
We are going to hold an
on-line raffle/auction
to help with our effort
of raising money to stay
open. All proceeds will
go directly to the
rescue to maintain
operation. Each donating
company will be
recognized by having
their name posted on our
site under “Companies
Who Care” including a
link to their website if
they have one. We have
started to receive
donations from generous
individuals,
organizations and
companies, but need more
to make this fund drive
a success!
People find fish to be
readily disposable even
though they are a living
breathing creature that
deserves a great life.
That is why I am here.
Thank you for your time,
